Modern villa for sale in Calpe, Spain
You could make this your own town and your own neighbourhood
⇒ To many of us, the place in which we live (or spend our holidays) is just as important as the house itself. Here you can find out about Calpe and La Empedrola.
Calpe
Calpe is a seaside town on the Costa Blanca, between Altea and Moraira.
It is an hour's drive from Alicante (and its airport) and an hour and a half's drive from Valencia (and its airport). About 30,000 people live here, of whom 6,000 plus are British.
For anyone who knows Calpe, 3 things stand out about the town: its beauty, its warmth and its friendliness.
Its beauty lies in its setting on a series of hills between the blue Mediterranean and the extraordinary mountains, which culminate in the striking Peñon d'Ifach. Looked at against the mountains, even Calpe's beach-hugging high-rise blocks are in keeping. And in how many towns does the main shopping street fall steeply from the town hall to the sea, with a peninsular mountain coming slowly into view?
Its warmth comes not only from the Spanish sun, but from the welcome you get from the people.
It is a family-friendly seaside resort, with plenty for children to do. But its friendliness goes further—into the restaurants, clubs and bars which crowd it, and which make for a varied and exciting night-life.
La Empedrola
The La Empedrola urbanisation is a quiet, exclusive urbanisation on the outskirts of Calpe. It is not on a through road, so only your neighbours drive into it.
The average plot is big—over 1,000 square metres, and many plots are two—or even three—times this size.
The house is on the southern (town) edge of the urbanisation, which means it is only 5 minutes' drive to the beaches or the town centre. Supermarkets are all a short drive away.
